SAN DIEGO, CA – Small is better. This is especially true for our upcoming group show, titled “Something's Afoot” at Industry Showroom on December 2. This art exhibition challenges a range of urban artists to present pieces no bigger than a square foot. In this new space their work progresses, purifies and intensifies.

One of the exhibiting artists, Michael Mahaffey, is an emerging San Diego artist, whose artwork is refreshing to view and surreal in content with a juxtaposed mix of pop culture icons of yesteryear and the macabre gone terribly wrong. Many of his paintings are quite bold and ridiculously witty with a lot more going on than meets the eye at first glance. Carrie Anne Hudson, another artist participating in this group show, also paints in a surreal and dark style, inspired by her dreams, nightmares, and daily encounters. She often uses a grayscale effect that creates a dreary feeling, ‘I love creating pieces that give off this dreary feeling; I love creating dark fairy tales.’

Jimmy Ovadia's art ‘takes the mind through twists and turns perceived through levels of consciousness and mysticism.’ His inspiration comes from unfeigned life experiences. His work has be described as ‘an abstract surrealistic art that visually unites the body, mind, soul and spirit. It elucidates and enlightens the individual and the world around them.’

Some of the other artists exhibiting include Aaron C. Moore, Rejeena Victoriano, MR. DVICE, Andre Lupian, Jannelly Herrera, Amon, Etah Chen and more. There will also be live painting from True Delorenzo.

The opening starts at 8pm and runs until 12am on December 2. Industry Showroom is located at 345 Sixth Avenue in downtown, San Diego. There is no dress code and no cover. However, you must be at least 21 years old to attend.
