A Wish That Came True

I never thougt that one day I would be living in Hillcrest. In fact it was a post high school wish. The plan was that I was supposed to join the coast guard and get a apartment right around the corner from where I'm staying. I guess that's what makes life so amazing because if you ask for something you just might get it, but always be careful for what you ask for. Well my wish had come true and I'm glad that I could forsee myself living in Hillcrest even though at the time I didnot know the community well at all. All I knew was that the owner of my Mcdonalds also owned the Mcdonalds on cleveland and what apartment building I had wanted to reside in, yeah a simple plan.
Fast forward from 1994 living in City Heights on drug invested 38th street to 2005 on posh park blvd and within that time frame, little more than ten years I have witness some physical changes. I remember catching the number seven bus in front of the egyptian theater, now the entrance had been preserved and it is surrounded by the egyptian condos. The Crypt used to be a store that sold disabled products, but after that it was something else. Wear it Agian Sam was on Park Blvd and today it has been replace with a skin care store. Now Wear it Again Sam is located at sixth and university. While riding the number seven bus to my job at the San Diego Zoo, I use to admire the nicely manecured lawns and well kept apartments and condos on park blvd. And on one of my many trips I recall two men walking on upas holding hands. There have been many changes, new store owners and plenty of places to eat it you can find parking but thank goodness Hillcrest is pedestrian friendly. As well as many changes the popular landmarks are still around like the Greek Orthodox church, the crumbling buildings of the San Diego Unified School District that sits on normal street and the infamous Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) also on normal street that everyone in the San Diego metro area utilize. And last but not least a chic like me can walk about Hillcrest without being harassed which is a major bonus.
