Let's Eat San Diego: In honor of Cosmo Queen Helen Gurley Brown's August passing, let's all drink martinis this month. Pear, traditional cranberry cosmopolitan ok, as long as it's Grey Goose. After all, "Good girls go to heaven but, bad girls go everywhere." Amen, sister. Here's my wow'd list this week:

  • Akinori: Sake bar, Japanese tapas, sushi in Hillcrest wows ocean-loving raw bar diners.

  • Sensational Seafood: Brooklyn girl clams casino, Ave 5 diver sallops, Saltbox mussels, Bice's mermaid cuisine.

  • Oy Vey Oysters: Brigantine, Karina's Mexican Seafood, Point Loma Seafood, Donovan's Prime Seafood, McCormick's serve them best.

  • Side Bar: Drink-challenged? Sign up for Mixology class 9/6 (every 1st Th) at 7. Barkeep Isaac Krejci reveals how to make a cukey English Tryst.

  • Davanti: Happy 1st birthday and congrats on your Bon Appetit accolade (Top 50 Best New Restaurants for 2012, only SD restaurant mentioned!). Gotta eat the giant sausage-stuffed rigatoni, roasted corn salad (wild mushrooms, chopped walnuts) soft cow cheese stuffed flatbreads.

Cook's Corner: Breakfast radishes, move over. Chop radishes, garlic cloves, anchovies and mix with red wine vinegar, olive oil, lemon juice, pepper and pink sea salt for a heavenly salad unless you plan to kiss all night.
