i lay down

gently

resting my head on a pillow

downcast eyes ,

tonite

at peace

within my heart

oh, troubles still live

handed down from past generations

added to one's i have created

blemishes

under my skin

covered up

tried to drown

but the infection spread

so buried

i was pronounced

dead

by some from long ago

hell found

on my own

ragged edges

sewn

stitched into

belonging

to me

for ever

shards of glass

cuts

a different kind of deep

weep

laugh

disguised

barely recognized

a shabby soul

bargained

loaned

and sold

for tabs too high

been trying to steal it back

a finger wagging

no no

amigo

must be paid in full

as i pull my boots

on

bloody n muddy

kickin up roots

rise

woes

body blows

healing

bruises disappearing

ready to reach

each day with varying results

at peace

with

one through seven

there's a sunrise

and a heaven

Your reference to body blows and bruises...I had just been pondering how humans are like bunches of bananas...how some take the hit for the team and become bruised but how its the inner not bruised one that get eaten first...dunno where I was going with that. lol

i like this...lately i seem to be taking too much time and having too much thought on picking my bananas...onions seem alot easier -

food seems to be central theme ...a new series - poets and food - i know nan is in !

i don't know ...all that matters is the New England Patriots have won today and are advancing to the Super Bowl- which is two days after my birthday ...not celebrating until they win !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
