Word is that San Diego-based rapper Young Mass' Las Vegas kidnapping charge has been reduced to a domestic violence beef.
In the April 9, 2008 issue, I did an interview with Young Mass, see here. I decided to do it because, after listening to his work, I knew he was a star on the rise. And like the rappers that came before him -- Snoop, BIG, Tupac -- he has had his run-ins with the law, due to his own actions.
I'm sure there will be songs...

"News today" is actually news two days ago, as in the story of Mass' charge reduction broke in the Reader's own daily music feature This Just In last Thursday, thanks to a tip I received from Mass' reps enabling us to be the first to report. Thanks for reposting the scoop, mikeh (albeit two days later!)
As for "the first interview with Young Mass," a correction: Mass earned his first Reader coverage in 2005, via a Blurt article and interview by Garrett Caples, three years before your 2008 writeup -- http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2005/aug/25/fresh-underground
The story behind Mass' most recent legal problems can be found at http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/20...
Around a dozen other Reader articles have been done about Young Mass, all accessed (and clearly dated) at http://www.sandiegoreader.com/bands/young-mass
All part of the Reader's ongoing efforts to provide the most comprehensive -- and up-to-date -- Local Music Database on the internet! Thanks again for (re)posting and linking to Mass' Database page, mikeh --

HAY! Two of those three cats also got shot and killed? Hope that comparison dont come around.
Snoop was charged with murder in 1993 - found not guilty. Mass was charged with kidnaping - not guilty of that charge. That comparison works for me!!!
