Sylvester Stallone's career has been undergoing a resurgence of late thanks to the smash hit The Expendables 2, but his personal life has been plagued by loss.
Less than two months ago, Stallone's 36-year-old son Sage Moonblood Stallone was found dead in Los Angeles. The final cause of death is pending toxicology reports.
Last night, Toni Ann Filiti, Stallone's 48-year-old half-sister, died of cancer at her mother's house in Santa Monica.
Filiti was the daughter of Jackie Stallone and second husband Tony Filiti. Jackie Stallone confirmed the news. She told The New York Daily News, "I was holding her in my arms. I had just washed [her] face and told her how pretty she looked, and she just fell asleep."
Both of Filiti's marriages wound up in divorce court. Her 8-year union with Markus Schaub ended in 1989. She has a son Edmund from her second marriage to Louis D'Alto. The couple divorced in 2001.
Filiti had a small role in the 1996 thriller, The Appointment. She was billed as Toni D'Alto.
"She's too young to go, but she wasn't feeling any pain," Jackie Stallone said of her daughter. "What a terrible month. First Sage and now Toni. It's hard. At least they're together now in heaven."
