Game of the Week: Torrey Pines at Olympian
I was unable to attend last night game due to prior commitments. Nice coverage!!! Enjoy reading your recaps weekly and follow your coverage instead of coverage in the local papers. Keep up the great work. After a couple of down years for this tradition-rich program, it appears that Torrey Pines is back and can compete with any of the upper echelon teams this fall. Their outstanding preparation especially on the defensive side of the ball, leading to 3 consecutive shutouts over respectable opponents, cannot be overstated. Looking forward to the Carlsbad match-up in 2 weeks as they also appear to be a program that has returned to the limelight after a couple of mediocre seasons.— September 18, 2010 8:02 a.m.
Escondido loses Hudson, falls to El Camino in quarters
I attended the game. Nice recap! Unfortunate ending to what was a great season for Escondido and Joe Hudson. and what was shaping up to be a great game. El Camino appeared to be more athletic and stronger in the paint. How do you think they will stack up against Torrey Pines, arguably one of the tougher venues in San Diego?— February 27, 2010 11:07 a.m.
Division I: Eastlake vs Vista
Outstanding coverage of this and all championship games at the Q. I felt as if I were there and was able to enjoy the games through your articles while in a nice dry environment. It was refreshing to see a team from the South Bay break through the dominance of the sport by the North County schools.— December 13, 2009 8:31 a.m.
What the Red Zone is thankful for
This article and the article about the snack bars were a nice diversion from the consistent outstanding coverage throughout the season. Your recognition of the intangibles related to but not directly associated with the game on the field are what complements the high school football experience for the fans and those of us unable to attend but still follow the game.— November 29, 2009 8:46 a.m.
Game of the Week: Mira Mesa at Escondido
Outstanding video footage and written coverage of the Div I quarterfinal game. I felt as if I were there. What are Escondido's chances this week and who is their opponent?— November 29, 2009 8:36 a.m.
Loyola bounces Hoover from state playoffs
I have been following your column for the past couple of months. I coach high school basketball and live in North County. On many occasions I did not get the scores from games played in areas outside of North County, not to mention a story. Often times, your column was the most convenient, and only coverage that I could find. It was well written and thorough. The recorded footage and the photos were outstanding. What I appreciated the most was the insight into teams and games that would not normally be seen or heard of up here. It gave me a more complete picture of SD basketball. Thank you! Nice work!— March 11, 2009 8:51 p.m.
