Scott Peters gift to Duke just coincidental?
Monaghan what a silly post on McGrory. In case you haven't noticed, SDSU is a taxpayer -supported university. It and CSU will pay the agreed upon price for the Mission Valley property. That's a lot better than the deal the City made back in the Sixties when it gave most of the Torrey Pines property, over 2000 acres of it for free to the University of California. For a parking lot in MV the city will receive something on the order of $80-100 million dollars. UC slides and CSU has to pay. UC buildings as a rule cost three times what CSU spends. Monaghan's expectations are cynical and rather boring. The city has owned that property for what, a hundred years or more and it never built a river park. Grandpa Irwin’s TV money
Giving a TV away is as ridiculous as Grandpa spending millions to elect an unqualified intern to Congress. Selective TV watching along with a proper mix of Internet sources raise the level of knowledge that was so missing in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania in November 2016.— May 2, 2018 3:28 p.m.
San Diego State slick magazine touts Mission Valley plan
The land will be paid for at market value, psycholizard. Vote yes, the La Jolla bunch wants to rip everyone off. Monoghan whines too much, professional whiner. The magazine is paid for with gifts and ads. The question to the voters is not State's. It is private.— April 25, 2018 4:54 p.m.
Gun mogul's cash targeted Gaspar for assault weapons vote
Monaghan, only an idiot would support Roberts who financed his same sex peccadillos with County money and forced the county to pay over $300,000 to employees who successfully challenged their treatment and firings by Roberts.— June 14, 2016 7:40 p.m.
Avocado growers disappointed by El Nino
Up to now, Mexican avocados allowed in the US have been from the state of Michoacán with its 12,000 avocado orchards. Starting this month Avocados from the state Of Jalisco are being allowed into the U.S. Mexico is introducing avocados to China, wait until that market takes off.— June 10, 2016 6:41 p.m.
Money makes the Issa go around
What a bullshit ignorant post AClarke. Back when Issa ran his business he never laid off an employee when hit by recession. He kept everyone on payroll in his Vista car alarm factory. Who can buy one of the richest men in Congress?— June 10, 2016 6:32 p.m.
Taxpayers on $271 million Petco hook
Governor Brown ruined the state when he was governor before by mandating public unions that even FDR opposed. We are now paying the price. As for this story, what is happening with the higher property taxes paid in Downtown, has Brown stolen them also? The post that the ballpark did nothing to improve Downtown is crap. The number of permits applied for, for multi-million dollar projects increased exponentially after the ball park was proposed. As I recall, the CCDC reported that the number of projects increased from less than a dozen applied for to over a hundred. The ball park deal was a good deal until Brown got his grubby hands on the money. The theft as aided and abetted by the most corrupt legislature since the Big Bill Bonelli and Papa Brown ripped off the state for millions and Brown (as AG and Governor with help from AG Stanley Mosk) let their pal walk across the state line to AZ from where he could not be extradited for the biggest corruption crime in CA history.— February 15, 2015 7:12 p.m.
Dumanis campaign guru arranging TV spots for Faulconer
Monaghan's post is ridiculous. 33-year-old Alvarez wouldn't even be in the run-off without a million dollars worth of union support. If anyone wants the city run by unionized city employees, then vote for Alvarez. if they want real governance by people who know what they are doing, vote for Faulconer.— December 23, 2013 2:24 p.m.
San Diego Chargers place Philip Rivers on indefinite hiatus following political endorsement
I was so pleased to see Rivers' ghost out there whipping ass on the Raiders today. The real Rivers would have done the same.— December 22, 2013 9:10 p.m.
AFSCME rolls for Alvarez; GOP spends for Faulconer
A conspiracy ran Filner out of office? Laughable. Whiny.— September 27, 2013 7:18 p.m.
