Shaded Sapphire
6.13.14 - Friday the 13th, Full Moon
Rosarito Baja California, Mexico
It is said that El Coronel Mountain received it's name after a Colonel in the U.S. Army fled to Baja with a large shipment of gold and took refuge in one of the many caves hidden on the Mountain. For decades the Colonel lived peacefully, his gold never to be found. Hiking this mountain at night showed not only the beauty but the mystery found in each passing step of the captivating six hour hike. The full moon shed light on areas of the mountain and Baja that are not visible during the day, causing the observer to yearn for a place of refuge as alluring as that of the escaped U.S. Colonel's.
