This was my first tattoo, and it is placed between my shoulder blades in the center of my back. It is a snake, and it is intended to represent dual expression, in that everything in life has more than one side. This also correlates with the idea that not everything is as it seems to be. A snake, for example, is generally associated with evil and danger, however, has also been depicted as being a healer in ancient times. The tattoo itself is meant to be ironic, for snakes have scales and aren't seen to be the prettiest of creatures, but I chose to compose the snake of vines and flowers, both softer, less harsh elements, highlighting the duality of snakes.
