When a foul and off-putting Borgnine seasons one-armed Spencer Tracy's chili bowl with a half-bottle of Heinz red lead in *Bad Day at Black Rock* (1955), the veteran star (aided and abetted by a primitive stunt double shot from the back) puts on a lighting display of martial arts handiwork. Tracy's judo chops propel the bloated Borgnine with such force that he almost topples the painted studio backdrop.
