Sen. Harkin Cites Bridgepoint's Shocking Dropout Rate
I think the D.O.E. doesn't know what to do with the entire mess but regulate more. Yeah it is flawed because Americans aren't aware of the big pictre. Don I think you are right. Chris Spohn leaving is a very very big deal. My guess is that the pressure cooker is full on at BPI. Who they replace them with will be very telling about how they will navigate through the new regulation pressure.— December 31, 2010 7:55 p.m.
Sen. Harkin Cites Bridgepoint's Shocking Dropout Rate
I have worked for two different companies in two different unrelated businesses and changing locks was standard operating procedure when managers left. Yeah it is expensive and internal audit staff at both companies sited us when we didn't change the locks in a timely basis. I am just saying from my experience I saw that happen enough to make the claim.— December 31, 2010 7:46 p.m.
For-Profit Colleges, Including Bridgepoint, Boost Lobbying
Don: I hope the Arnie Duncan gets a hell of a lot tougher because the reality remains that gainful employment opportunities are clearly not here now or in the foreseeable future. My remedy is to eliminate a large chunk of the federal student loand monies made available for students to got to school. This will have some unintended conseqences in the Public Programs surely but it will ratchet back the impending student loan default crisis that is clearly building up steam.— December 31, 2010 3:56 p.m.
Sen. Harkin Cites Bridgepoint's Shocking Dropout Rate
Spillin it... actually changing the locks is a common practice in business whether the departed was good or bad. I only knew about Chris Spohn, Jeff Cross leaving is more tantilizing. Even more validation for my original thought!— December 30, 2010 6:26 p.m.
Sen. Harkin Cites Bridgepoint's Shocking Dropout Rate
Did you see Christopher Spohn resigned effective tomorrow from Bridgepoint? They claim he wasn't being forced out. I think that is B.S. I believe he was the fall guy for the very top.— December 30, 2010 6:05 p.m.
For-Profit Colleges, Including Bridgepoint, Boost Lobbying
The huge news today was that Chris Spohn, Chief Admissions Officer at Bridgepoint, is leaving effective tomorrow. The company spokesperson stated that he was leaving to try other things and wasn't being forced out. I suspect that is B.S. and we will know more in the coming weeks. He is the fall guy for anything done wrong with enrollment practices at BPI. At least that is what I suspect to be more plausible.— December 30, 2010 5:59 p.m.
For-Profit College Stocks, Including Bridgepoint, Walloped
How impactful will these new regulations be on Bridgepoint and the others?— October 28, 2010 9:54 a.m.
For-Profit College Stocks, Including Bridgepoint, Walloped
I saw the stock drop last week and then read why. I was relieved. I don't know who I blame more for this racket Washington or Andrew Clark. Did Washington D.C. turn it's back on poor people just long enough for Andrew Clark to swoop in and get rich on the American Taxpayer or is Washington D.C. just plain corrupt? Or Stupid?— October 17, 2010 5:12 p.m.
For-Profit College Stocks Whacked Again
I absolutely agree with Surfpuppy619's post #8. What is going on with accreditation at Bridgepoint? Are they being dumped by the Midwestern accreditiation organization(I forgot the name or accronym)— September 27, 2010 7:30 p.m.
Bridgepoint Brass Dumping Stock
I liked what i read today about Secretary Duncan's viewpoint on for profits. In light of the enormous lobbying effort aimed at diluting or derailing rule changes, perhaps the most important part of the announcement was Education Secretary Arne Duncan’s language. “We’re moving forward on gainful employment regulations," he said. "While a majority of career colleges play a vital role in training our workforce to be globally competitive, some bad actors are saddling students with debt they cannot afford, in exchange for degrees and certificates they can’t use.” Next up: On Thursday, the Senate’s Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee will hold yet another hearing on for-profits.— September 24, 2010 9:26 p.m.
