I have been going thru the same searching...kids want a dog.
Petfinder.org links to all the shelters and breed specific rescues in the county, you might try that if the one you picked out does not come thru for you. Going to one website beats going to all the different ones, one at a time.
My grandma had 2 pugs when I was growing up, and my aunt had 3. They are great dogs and very very smart. While neither had any problems with their pugs, breathing issues can come up with that breed like you said.

Greatest Sports Movies Ever
I was typing too fast. I meant Newman should get the sympathy vote for THIS LIST...not an Oscar. I agree the Oscar he got for The Color of Money was really a lifetime achievment. William Hurt should have won for Children of a Lesser God. But he won the year before for Kiss of the Spider Women, so going back to back...you have to really wow the judges I would guess. I may be the only person who thought the latest Batman movie wasnt very good. Did'nt like the shaky camera angles, gravely/monotone voiced C. Bale, and didnt think Ledger's performance was Oscar worthy. He did a good job, but an Oscar?? Just my opinion.— February 25, 2009 5:05 p.m.
Greatest Sports Movies Ever
I agree that "Requiem for a Heavyweight" was an EXCELLENT movie, sad ending is an understatement, and probably too true for many boxers back in the day. A couple movies you left off that I would have included... Bang The Drum Slowly with DeNiro..again a sad one. Hoosiers...how can you leave that one off??? Bad News Bears...if you put on CaddyShack for a comedy, you should put this one on too. I would include CS, but BNB is a must add IMHO. Slapshot (Hockey) and The Hustler (Pool)both with Paul Newman...if Ledger can get the sympathy vote at the Oscars, why not Newman..he passed away this past year as well. I know The Hustler is a stretch as it is Pool, but hey, they show billiards on ESPN, so it must be a sport : ) The ones I would take out to put those 5 on would be.... Tin Cup and Field of Dreams, both overrated I think. Bull Durham would be replaced by Bang the Drum Slowly...better baseball movie I think. Garp, cause yes, it is cheating...not a "true" sports movie, just some sports in it. The Wrestler...I have not seen it yet, so I can eliminate it from my list. I agree Rudy is overrated. I am glad you didn't put on Chariots of Fire...I think that is always mentioned on these lists. It is a boring 3 hour long snooze fest!— February 25, 2009 10:35 a.m.
Michael Phelps Revisited -- And a Poker Game Bust
I had a home game going for over 7 years with a core group of 10 guys. We played every Wednesday night. Since the same 2 guys usually won...over 7 years of playing....it is more skill than luck!! Ask any "winning" poker player and they will tell you it is a skill game. There are elements of luck involved, but since you are playing live people vs. the house, that is where some of the skill lies. One player was an LA police detective, one was a SD sheriff deputy, the others were from all walks of life. The game that got busted was probably one where one of the officers wanted to play in, but was told NO. So sour grapes caused the bust.— February 4, 2009 12:18 p.m.
100 Point Basketball Game
The thing I read was they didnt put the bench in until the fourth quarter when they were close to 100 points. The starting point guard had over 40 points and pressed the whole game. The game was a layup drill for the point guard. The 3 point shooting deep into the 4th quarter WAS shameful IMHO. As one mom said..."I think the bad judgment was in the full-court press and the 3-point shots," said Renee Peloza, whose daughter plays for Dallas Academy. "At some point, they should have backed off." I agree with you that something should have been said to ease up on the other team. The other thing I am reading is that the poor sportsmanship shown by...the Assistant Coach, players, and parents in the stands wildly cheering as they closed in on the 100 point mark. Now Covenant (winning team) is trying to forfeit the game since they feel they did not act as good sports. I don't agree with that, and if I was on the loosing team, I would not want their pity after the fact! That to me is adding insult to injury. They won, but did it in a callous way.— January 27, 2009 2:05 p.m.
Bad Customer Service
Same thing happens to me at the Jack In Box in N. County...almost every time. I no longer take the bag and leave. I am the slow guy in front of you looking in the bag and checking the order before leaving the window. I imagine people behind me are getting peeved at me taking so long, but I am not paying for something that is not received anymore...happened one too many times.— January 20, 2009 4:30 p.m.
Bad Customer Service
You hit the nail on the head Blue!! Most problems I have encountered with poor CS, is with young employees with a bad attitude.— January 20, 2009 2:27 p.m.

Reality Shows
Your experience proves that "Reality Shows" are anything but reality. I don't care for them either. Too bad that is the most common show on TV these days. A better example of a true "reality" show would be Dangerous Catch, Survivorman, or The Lion's Den. Those to me are more true to life than some scripted Hollywood show with idiot people acting stupid. Of course if the actors on those shows acted normal, it would be boring and not last long...so the train wreck reference is very true. I once read that on The Apprentice (another reality game show), the producers would have liquor available all the time, but not feed the contestants on a regular basis. This would get the actors to act stupid and thus a more exciting show.— December 9, 2008 2:06 p.m.

I agree, if you own the house you should be able to do anything "legal" you want with it. I grew up in the midwest where there were no Home Owner Associations. I found out about those when I moved to California. There was a feud going on between two neighbors. So just to rile the other neighbor, one guy painted his house bright purple. I thought that was hilarious!! Mind you, I would not want my neighbor to do that, but I would defend his right to do it. The booze ban goes right along with "legislating to the lowest common denominator". There are those that can't drink responsibly, so ban them all. I hate that mentality. Too bad it is happening more and more in this country. I don't drink at the beach either, and agree with you it is a crap law.— December 4, 2008 5:32 p.m.

WOW, MsGrant you obviously have never been in an oxygen tent, take weekly allergy shots, or had your throat swell shut from an allergic reaction. It is not an "allergic argument" it is a fact some of us have to deal with, and it is not fun!! Would you feed peanut butter to someone who is allergic to nuts?? Do you have a hypo when they go into anaphylactic shock?? Telling someone you have cats before they enter your house would be the reasonable thing to do....but hey, its just a cat right?— December 4, 2008 4:27 p.m.
