The Anti-Sonic Burger
I disagree with you Pistol Pete. Ate at Sonic and it was horrible! In & Out is overrated but so much better. Here's wishing continued success to Pepper Tree Frosty— November 4, 2009 9:48 a.m.
Bayside Landing
Great happy hour with about 10 beers on draft including Stone Pale, Arrogant Bastard, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, and Karl Strauss Red Trolley. It's possible that the beer selection changes. Have eaten there 3x. First 2x my gilfriend and I shared a Big Kahuna burger (of Pulp Fiction fame:). For $7.65 you get a huge burger and the bun has a sweet taste. Fries are not included but it filled us up. Yesterday my girlfriend got the Hawaiian rice bowl and I ordered the Teriyaki burger. She loved hers and took about 1/3 home. I don't like teriyaki, but the fact that pineapple was an ingredient on the burger, I went for it. Best teriyaki ever. Not overpowering like most. Probably a recipe the chef came up with. I could not have been more satisfied! Service is always great! If you read my other restaurant reviews you will see that I don't just dole out 10's.— October 31, 2009 6:53 a.m.
Mavericks Beach Club
Although it has been sometime since I have eaten a sit down meal here, the food had always been very tasty and the service excellent. We don't live in the area so only go on an occasional Friday night. Happy hour is until 10pm. We sit at the bar and the menu includes $2.50 wells and domestic drafts plus 50 cent appetizers for each drink you buy. The appetizers are a small portion of a regular order. All the appetizers are great (garlic fries, philadelphia roll, fried mice which are jalepeno poppers, etc). They really fill you up for cheap. And the service is always great.— October 31, 2009 6:44 a.m.
Karl Strauss Brewing Company
The best brewery in San Diego. Service is above average at the bar as well as at your table. Generally about 10 or more beers on tap. My favorite is the Amber Lager which is a staple. Also, the Red Trolley is suprisingly very tasty at 9% alcohol. Every beer is at least good. Food is delicious. My favorite appetizer is the Garlic Parmesian Brewery fries. Steaks are very tender and the Grilled Fish tacos are very flavorful.— November 3, 2008 4:39 a.m.
Bailiwick
You can watch a movie at the fantastic Pacific Theatres Gaslamp and then head across the street to Alhambres. Very good and fresh. Their salsa bar includes a minimum of 6 different types including a guacomole sauce. The vegetarian burrito is my favorite and includes mushrooms which makes the taste very unique.— November 3, 2008 4:26 a.m.
Asmara Eritrean Restaurant
After reading last weeks comment from Dazio, I felt compelled to write my comment. I once visited Asmara Eritrean Restaurant and was excited to try this ethnic food. First of all the waitress was not personable at all and seemed very put out by being there. The food was not fresh, and the injera (a bread-like utensil)is the most horrible tasting "bread" I have ever tasted. In all fairness, it has been quite a while since that visit and maybe they have imroved.— October 5, 2008 6:54 p.m.
