Susan, K. Cheers notified me of your decision. All good things must come to an end?? All of your many fans will respect your decision and look forward to any other media source that you choose. It has been a great run and highly beneficial to Chula Vista. Respectfully, D— March 24, 2015 4:10 p.m.
H-1B – a scheme to lower engineers’ wages
Don, You were right about the state PUC and the utilities and I have no doubt that you correct about the misuse of H-1B's. Keep up the good work!— March 13, 2015 11:27 a.m.
Road repair dilemma in Chula Vista
I hope I am not displaying a selective memory but it just seems like in the 50's and 60's government was able to do big projects like build roads and bridges, freeways and public buildings without the call to always raise taxes or borrow more funds. These efforts utilized a large labor force that got things done! The cost of doing business has skyrocketed due to a number of factors so the new reality is that infrastructure everywhere is suffering.— March 4, 2015 5:05 p.m.
The vote swinger
The San Diego motto should be "Send me your poor, your corrupt officials" It is not only politicians that seem to keep coming back, it is also those tied to crimes in other states that enjoy a clean slate here. Wasn't Alioto or Gandara also suspected in other states of wrongdoing? How can the office of Mr. Vu in Ohio have two criminal convictions for rigging the 2004 presidential election but is just fine in our club of chummy misfits. I guess, by now, we should be getting used to having egg on our faces.— January 5, 2015 10:01 a.m.
Funky’s opposite
SJ, the CV RV park is being relocated to the South to a less desirable spot and the current land becomes part of an expanded Bayside Park.— December 9, 2014 1:34 p.m.
Funky’s opposite
Integral Communities is a company that defines what not to allow in your neighborhood. After buying the finest view lot in Chula Vista that was slated for a resort, they maximized profit by building high density apt/condos. Overlooking Otay Lake, this is one ugly project. They pave the path with sweet talk and campaign donations, successfully getting zoning changed for their benefit. The RV park in Chula Vista is also being closed for bayfront development. RV parks require little infrastructure and maintenance while being an ongoing cash cow for the owners. The Coastal Commission should not allow access to the area be restricted by private development but they need to hear from the local residents. Many thanks for this article. Stay vigilant!— December 9, 2014 11:42 a.m.
It would have been prudent...
Chris Roach? Any relation to Derrick Roach, school board candidate? Chula Vista--bought and paid for by residential real estate developers. I agree that there seems to be a rush to get entitlements completed. "Don't worry, we know best" should be the city's new motto.— November 25, 2014 12:17 p.m.
Dollars and nonsense in Chula Vista
Thank you Susan and Mr. Liuag for trying to maintain the quality of life for this area of Chula Vista. It would be terrific if enough residents showed up for the village two second reading to make a difference. In the meantime, the entitlements for more of the same density in villages 3,8 and 10 will be going to the planning commission on the 19th. These properties are owned by a Boston bank that does not care about our far away berg. If not for some of the involved citizens today, a future where people say "what the heck happened?" will certainly be the norm.— November 11, 2014 11:49 a.m.
It takes a Village card room…
SJTorres, What is your definition of journalism, the UT? The most bias editorial board in SD County! Susan speaks truth to power, that's all.— October 31, 2014 4:37 p.m.
Enough nepotism and cronyism
Thank you Susan, Fran Brinkman and all of the commenters. We DO need to finish the hard work all of the residents who truly care have been doing for years. We can NOT afford to be manipulated further. I think Dana gets my vote.— October 21, 2014 9:17 p.m.
