Broken Yolk Café
Best place to go on a Saturday/Sunday morning, particularly if you had your heart set on The Mission, but are too hungry to bear the 1 1/2 hour wait. Here, you will be seated immediately upon your arrival, followed by the taking of your order and prompt delivery of your food. There is always seating available on the second floor, a sunny, roof deck perfect for breakfast or brunch dining. Breakfast menu offers a vast choosing of typical breakfast plates (eggs, omelets, pancakes, etc.), all for reasonable prices. Menu suggestions: Try the orange juice, breakfast fruit platter, and any omelet as long as you ask for it to come with jalapenos.— August 2, 2008 12:27 p.m.
Guava Beach Bar & Grill
Not worth your while to go...unless of course, it is Wednesday night between 9:30 and 12:30 pm. During this window of time, this usually unimpressive bar transforms into a buzzing mecca of 20-something college students who have come for the free (or at $2 a pop, practically free) flowing alcohol, a few games of pool, and of course, for a few rounds of the infamous "Bionic Beaver" (a drink sweet enough to put you into a diabetic coma and an alcohol content strong enough to give you a nasty hangover Thursday morning, comes in pitchers for $12 along with as many straws as people at your table--common ritual of consumption of the Bionic Beaver is to race the other table in finishing the pitcher).— August 2, 2008 12:12 p.m.
