Dog Smarts, Leap Year
Fred, That was great! I'm checking in with our mutants right now. NR. Another day when I could be replaced by a toggle switch!— March 6, 2009 6:38 p.m.
Dog Smarts, Leap Year
Matt's got it right. Perhaps under the pretense of "animals are people too", many dog-owners see themselves as friends of the dog; not quite the way the dog sees it. Although it is ironic to see people carrying baggies of poop behind their pooches, animals are really here to serve humans. Intelligence is often a function of both the dog's breed and the training abilities of the master/owner. My brothers and I had a very bright, lab-collie mix, which we had trained to alert on my pinhead sister's cat, open round-handled doorknobs, and to answer the telephone; although it didn't like the taste of the handset! We currently own a couple of mutant, I-talian greyhounds, which make for good alert dogs and rat killers, but not much else. Known as the Village Idiots, Meathead and Space are at the bottom of the food chain for intelligence, and make great girl pets. BTW, the female dog-urine will ruin your lawn. As for me, if we had a bigger lot, I would opt for an airedale, which in addition to not shedding much was the messenger, rescue dog in WWI.— March 5, 2009 10:07 a.m.
Shopping List of Classics, Film Noir, and Westerns
Duncan Shepherd's colorful, fine reviews and scintillating command of the English language have always been a barometer of sorts for my family, which we use in lieu of throwing money away. A decided asset to our community!— March 5, 2009 9:56 a.m.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop
Mallrats and Mallcops are pure Americana. This film is for all the wannabees, who never made it to the Big Show!— March 2, 2009 7:49 a.m.
Viva la Restitution
Che the Murderer another left-wing dimwit who didn't die soon enough.— February 27, 2009 11:17 a.m.
Burn after Reading
As long as the Brothers Coen continue mining the bureaucratic inefficiency, plaguing government bureaucracies within the District of Criminals, they'll never go out of business! Having lived and worked inside the D.C. Beltway, the Coens have nailed it, once again proving everything is connected. For residents of the Left Coast, who saw this movie, perfect attendance is all you were expected to get!— October 31, 2008 4:20 p.m.
Saddle Up
As they continue to tap a veritable gold mine of bureaucratic inefficiency, plaguing government agencies within the 'District of Criminals', the Brothers Coen will never run out of material!— October 30, 2008 11:15 a.m.
Charlie Wilson's War
For those less bureaucratically adaptable types amongst us, who have 'walked the walk' and understand it's "all" done with a wink, this movie is an effen riot! Infants will be allowed to go to their rooms and watch something poignant, such as any Michael Mooron movie.— September 28, 2008 8:20 p.m.
Breaker Morant
This a five-star movie as rated by men who have served their time in hell; about which, desk pilots would know little.— September 28, 2008 8 p.m.
The Great Debaters
A review that well-captures the price versus the value of the subject. Please do tell us when have you been at the end of the whip?— May 24, 2008 9:48 p.m.
