Romeo and Julieta’s Wine Cafe

- 4715 Monroe Ave, San Diego, CA 92115 | Directions
At the unlikely corner of Monroe and 47th sits Romeo and Julieta’s Wine Cafe, new (and only) kid on the block for wine, espresso, and Polish-inflected tapas. The warm interior is airy, well-lighted, and outfitted with abundant exuberance. The wine list is short and not too expensive with plenty of room for exploration, though beer drinkers won't find much variety. Try the pierogies — the dough is supple, chewy and never tough, and the choices of fillings are all equally good. They’re closed on Mondays, but other nights the hours are 5-10ish.
