Puesto Escondido

Folksinger Willy Clauson calls this eatery his “hidden outpost.” You don’t know Clauson? He discovered “La Bamba” before it became Ritchie Valens’s signature song. The food at Puesto Escondido is more sophisticated than its price indicates. Chicken fajitas, fish tacos, tortas (with chicken breast, ham, cheese), the excellent camarones del chef (shrimp with melted cheese), caldo tlalpeño soup, and Willy’s favorite, albóndigas chipotle (tortilla strips, sauce, meat, cheese, and chorizo) are all worth the trip. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily except Tuesday. Inexpensive. — E.B.
