Icons in Transformation

A dramatic 100-piece major art exhibition, March 5 through May 7. This traveling exhibition features the contemporary work of internationally acclaimed Russian-Swedish abstract expressionist Ludmila Pawlowska. Pawlowska’s distinctive technique includes painting, installation, and sculpture using collage on wood panel and presents traditional Russian icons as a source of inspiration for contemporary art. The exhibit will feature 15 traditional icons painted at the workshop of Vassilevsky Monastery in Suzdal, Russia. The works on view will also include 12 large sculptural pieces designed to be viewed through the prism of a sacred space, creating a stunning and dramatic visual impression.

The exhibit will be hosted in the nave of the architecturally significant All Soul’s Church, a classic of midcentury modern design by legendary San Diego architect Robert Mosher.
