Walter Mencken 9 a.m., May 23
Nine-year-old Brett May, 1963. His father, speedboat racer George May, encouraged Brett to get into racing the single-seat ten-horsepower boats that could reach 50 miles per hour. George May told our local daily: "There is no other sport I know of where a father and son can work and play together."
