“As a child, I loved hearing my grandad sing songs from The Sound of Music while strumming his old cracked ukulele,” says Jesse Daniel Edwards. “I grew up in Julian and currently live in Nashville, doing the music thang. I’m returning with my friend Landon Pigg to play Casbah December 1 on a short tour. I haven’t been back home in ages.”

Taz-Taylor

U.K. guitarist Taz Taylor, who moved to San Diego in 1997, was born in Birmingham, England, the same musically fertile town that bred Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. On the heels of the new Taz Taylor Band album Nocturnal, a video was just released featuring their first live performance of “Blue,” shot July 15 at Escondido’s Ritz Theater. The band appears December 17 at Ramona Mainstage.

Swive

Swive is an alt-rock band with harmony-filled female and male vocals, founded in 2021 by members who’ve played with Lighting Starts Fire, Weenie Roast, Throw Like a Girl, The Nephews, Scary Pierre, and Lucy’s Fur Coat. Their Earthling Sessions EP, released in June, was recorded by Mike Kamoo at his Earthling Studios. They’ll perform Sunday, December 4, at Navajo Live on a bill that includes Super Buffett and Scott Samuels.

Sara Petite

Sara Petite was born and raised in the countryside of Sumner, Washington, later relocating to San Diego. The winner of 2022 San Diego Music Awards for Best Country or Americana Album and Best Country or Americana Artist will lead the Loretta Lynn Revue on December 6 at the Belly Up. The country tribute features an all-star backing band that includes singer-guitarists Steve Peavey, Shawn Rolfe, and Jeff Berkley, as well as Bobby Furgo on fiddle, drummer Mike Kastner, and Chris “Sully” Sullivan on bass.

Roger

“We have the luxury of a home studio, so there was no rush whatsoever,” says Roger! singer-guitarist-keyboardist Ernie Garcia of recording the art-folk rockers’ newest album, Patterns, mixed and mastered by Rolling Stones producer Alan Sanderson. A video for “Fire,” a song said to have been written in a half hour, was shot at Subharmonic City Productions, based in Garcia’s hometown of El Paso, Texas.
