Assembly speaker–elect John Perez rolls into town on Saturday, January 23, to raise money at the Mission Bay Hyatt Regency for termed-out Democratic Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña’s bid for county supervisor against incumbent Ron Roberts…The U.S. State Department has issued a draft Environmental Assessment for the proposed San Diego–Tijuana Airport Cross Border Facility, with public comment due by February 12. Prepared by Otay-Tijuana Venture, L.L.C., the limited liability company that wants to build the project, the document is available for review at the city’s Otay-Nestor branch library. Featuring a 525-foot pedestrian bridge from the United States to Mexico, the Otay Mesa terminal, bankrolled by Chicago billionaire Sam Zell and wealthy Mexican partners, would allow passengers to park and check in on the U.S. side of the border and then walk across the line for departures from Tijuana’s airport.
