On Friday, January 23, 2009 at 3 p.m., the Mission Bay High School girls’ varsity soccer team competed against Clairemont under overcast skies and on slightly soggy fields. Mission Bay coach Jorge Palacios said, “It was an intense competitive game. We scored early and put a lot of pressure on them in the beginning. In the second half, Clairemont hit a goal with two minutes left for a tie.” Coach Palacios added, "There will be a second match at the end of the season that will determine the league champion."

Clairemont and Mission Bay are tied for first place in the Central League. Mission Bay’s next conference game will take place January 30 at 3 p.m. against Crawford High School.
