Rancho San Diego witnessed an unusual sight at 5:15pm on Thursday, January 22, 2009: a full-color rainbow fitting just under a ceiling of gray rain clouds. This rarity occurred on a dark, cold, and wet day with no visible sun in the sky. To those puzzled by the horizon-to-horizon rainbow in the eastern sky, the answer lay behind them to the west. A bright orange sunset was the cause of this pretty sight. This video was taken while Steve Terry was bicycling home from work and stopped under the shelter of the Mobile gas station in Rancho San Diego.
