On one recent morning in “Baja Kensington” (the south part of Kensington), I came across the most unique “yard sale.” I say “yard sale” in quotations because there was no yard to speak of...not even a garage or a driveway to be found. An impromptu sidewalk sale was staged in front of the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School baseball field, with items unloaded from a "gently used" blue Ford pick-up truck.
Shoppers inquired, and items were produced -- “I’m looking for a vacuum,” and, voila, out came a vacuum from the bed of the truck, prompt customer service provided by one of the two "gently used" men.
Not more than 30 minutes after the sale began, two SDPD cars showed up, likely called by an irritated neighbor. Back into the truck went the coveted vacuum and the 25-cent records, and that was the end of the yardless yard sale.
