"Our guitar player, Mason Boogie, borrowed his roommate's pink girl's bike. He went to the store in OB to buy food. He got pulled over by the cops, and they said they had a report that the bike was stolen. They searched and found a little bit of herb. They gave him a ticket and he had to go to court. They had no reason to contact him in the first place."

Dandelion, lead singer with the rasta band Vegitation, says it's tough to be a musician with dreadlocks. Even in Ocean Beach.

"It happened to our drummer too. He was just riding on his skateboard. They said they stopped him because he was riding erratically. In my case, I was stopped because I was riding my own bike. They said they had a report that my bike was stolen."

He said his band was treated entirely differently when they played the week-long Cannabis Cup festival in Amsterdam in November. "We played at this place called Milkweg. It was an old milk factory across the street from the police station.... There were no incidences...It all has to do with an abuse of power."

Vegitation appears 9 p.m. Saturday at the Belly Up Tavern with the Itals.
