Before Louis XIV played a San Francisco venue December 16, an area paper wrote, "Dirty boys finish first. At least that's what San Diego's Louis XIV are betting on. The latest major-label contenders who would be Jet take a smutty page or two from the playbooks of Bowie and Bolan, working the sensation card and pressing all your buttons. Guitarist-keyboardist-vocalist Jason Hill, guitarist-vocalist Brian Karscig, bassist Jimmy Armbrust, and drummer Mark Maigaard have been treated like royalty of late, garnering West Coast airplay for their single 'Finding Out True Love Is Blind' and gathering chatter on BBC 1 and in NME in the U.K. for their song 'God Killed the Queen.' All before their Atlantic debut in January -- and you wonder why?"
