Guided Nature Walk
Join an MTRP Trail Guide on a guided nature walk and learn about the plants, animals, geology, history, and ecology of the park. This is a good time to see the river running strong. You will hike one of these scenic trails: The Oak Grove Loop showcasing majestic coast live oaks and rare Engelmann’s oaks. The Visitor Center Loop highlighting coastal sage scrub, chaparral, and riparian woodland habitats. The Riverside Grinding Rocks featuring one of the archaeological sites in the park. These interpretive nature walks are offered to enhance your appreciation of the unique beauty of San Diego’s natural environment. With Spring weather we are starting to see yellow sunflowers and the Ramona Lilacs are covering the hills with its dusky purple blooms. The trails used are easy, but have uneven surfaces and some involve steps, so be sure to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring along water. A hat and sunscreen are also recommended. Walks are canceled if raining.
