Rachel Gao: Chinese Etymology
541-B Second Avenue, San Diego, 92101
Cost: $5
Join San Diego Chinese Historical Museum for the third Saturday lecture. This month Rachel Gao will present on Chinese etymology and language learning. Many people say it is hard to learn Chinese characters, but perhaps they haven’t tried to learn through the etymologic perspective. Etymology is the study of the original writing, meaning, and pronunciation of characters. Applying etymology in language learning would help us, not only to understand why and how the characters were formed but also to appreciate Chinese history and culture through these characters.
