Bum the Dog Walking Tour
410 Island Avenue, San Diego, 92101
Cost: Free
"Spiff up the statues" spring cleanup party to wash, polish, and celebrate the 130th anniversary of the birth of Bum, San Diego's town dog (who was purportedly born on 7/3/1886 in San Francisco). Bring your pooch and enjoy a few refreshments as we pull out the elbow grease to preserve our bronze canine buddies.
Following the cleanup, Dan Haslam (from Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation and Walkabout International) will lead a free, narrated walk (for dogs and their buddies) in the Gaslamp Quarter area to follow Bum's paw prints to see where he pranced and squatted during his 12-year reign as San Diego's dog during the last two decades of the 19th Century.
