The Secret (and Amazing) Lives of Bees
2437 Hutchison Street, Vista, 92084
Cost: Free
Local beekeeper and bee advocate Quentin Alexander will take you inside the lives of bees. Kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with a tour of the preserve and its many bee-friendly California native plants. Quentin's presentation (with a demonstration beehive) follows from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
You'll learn what really goes on inside a hive, the ways bees communicate and behave, what to do if you encounter a hive, basics of bee stewardship, and why bees are threatened and what you can do about it.
Quentin Alexander is the founder of Hive Savers (hivesavers.com), a bee rescue and relocation service based in Encinitas. He is passionate about bees and serves as an advocate for sustainable policies to ensure their health and survival.
