De-Stigmatizing Addiction: Understanding the Hidden Power of Emotions
Emotional Martial Arts: An evening of emotionally intelligent storytelling, guided imagery, and live music sound meditation. A dramatic rise in drug overdoses implores us to breakthrough the common stigma that the addict is flawed, weak, morally corrupt, or a sociopath in order to understand this brain/body/mind/spiritual disease. In tonight’s EMA, Transformational Psychiatrist Howard E. Richmond, M.D. shows us how, even if we don’t struggle with addiction, when we peel off layers of judgment we can discover hidden emotions that hijack the brain and result in self-destructive behavior. Then, with live music along with guided imagery, Dr. H and the Transformational Sound Healers lead us in a sound healing experience that releases judgment and excess tension in body and mind where hidden emotions and negative beliefs stagnate. After the guided imagery, there is an opportunity for discussion to further integrate the tools of EMA. Like martial arts, this skill set can be practiced again and again to become reflexive and automatic.
