Coffee Cupping, Fortune Telling, and Art Show
Designed to introduce guests to the flavors and aromas of four artisanal varieties of Stumptown Coffee, this event also features a pop-up art gallery from local painter Susan Synder and happy hour pricing on food and drinks. Guests will have the opportunity to see Susan perform the unique fortune-telling method of coffee grounds reading, which provides an aromatic peek into one’s past and future. A traditional coffee cupping entails the sensory testing of the tastes and aromas of various brewed coffees. This intensive process involves sniffing coffee grounds when dry and wet, drinking the coffee at 160 degrees to determine flavor and aftertaste, drinking again when cooled to no less than 140 degrees to determine acidity, body, and balance, and drinking once more near room temperature to determine sweetness, uniformity, and cleanliness.
