Screen Your Teen
4474 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego, 92115
Cost: Free
The Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation urges teens 12 to 25 to attend a free cardiac screening to check for heart abnormalities that could put them at risk for Sudden Cardiac Arrest, a leading cause of death under 25 and the #1 killer of student athletes.
The screening, which includes a health history, EKG, and limited echocardiogram if indicated, is painless and noninvasive (no needles or X-rays) and takes less than 45 minutes. The EP Save A Life Foundation has screened nearly 17,000 teens since 2010, identifying 1 in 100 at risk for SCA. Screenings also feature demonstrations of hand-only CPR and AED.
