SDPD Honors Women in Blue
The San Diego Police Foundation will gather San Diego business and community leaders to celebrate and honor law enforcement leaders at the 2015 Women in Blue luncheon. This year’s selected honorees are: San Diego Police Department Police (SDPD) Captain, Internal Affairs/Professional Standards Unit, Anastasia Smith; SDPD Program Manager of Information Services Chris Haley; and SDPD Northern Division Lieutenant and SWAT Executive Officer, Tina Williams. Considered trailblazers in nontraditional careers, the honorees will share insights and anecdotes from their paths to success with an anticipated crowd of over 300 at the fifth annual Women in Blue event.
Chief of Police, Shelley Zimmerman, will deliver the luncheon keynote address. In 2011, Chief Zimmerman was one of the inaugural Women in Blue Honorees and one of a select few female Chiefs of Police in the USA.
This year’s program will feature the Police Foundation’s SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices® work to prevent cyberbullying and the victimization of children online. This year’s presenting sponsor is Verizon Wireless, a champion for the cause of keeping our kids safe online. Other event sponsors include ESET, Cox Communications, curbi and Mission Federal Credit Union.
Attendees are invited to bring their used mobile devices and accessories to the luncheon as part of Verizon’s HopeLine initiative. HopeLine recycles these items, using the proceeds to support nonprofit domestic violence agencies like the San Diego Family Justice Center, a program administered by the San Diego Police Department.
