With Dr. Jacqueline Pitanguy, Brazil’s best-known feminist activist. Dr. Pitanguy will address the democratization process of Brazil after 21 years of dictatorship and the role of women’s movements in making gender equality a central component of democracy. Her talk will put particular emphasis on the advocacy process developed by women in order to guarantee their rights in the new Constitution, to reform discriminatory legislations, to create new ones, and to implement public policies.
