Distinguished Lecture Series: Art & Nature: Six Tendencies
704 Pier View Way, Oceanside, 92054
Cost: Free - $10
Dr. Malcolm Warner, Executive Director of Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach, discusses the ways in which mankind’s relationship to nature has revealed itself in art -- from landscape painting to landscape design and Land Art, from still life to scientific illustration.
He describes the shifts of attitude that gave rise to the Romantic idea of nature in Europe and the U.S., the revolution of Impressionism, and the persistence of nature as a theme in modern and contemporary art.
