Background:

Weight of the Sun was founded former members of Chanauk. The group features bassist Rob Jones, singer David Martin, and Brian Goold, former guitarist for hardcore band Four Seconds Forever.

“We're teaming with Amplified Aleworks and making a collaboration beer with them called Weight of the Saison, a great roasty Black Saison,” frontman David Martin (25th Hour) told the Reader in early 2014. Their debut full-length Commons dropped in May, produced at Back to Bassics Studio in Miramar with Matt Murphy (Periphery) and preceded by the single “Spitting Image.”

The album features guest vocalist Travis Neal (Divine Heresy, Fear Factory, Nile, the Bloodline) on the track “Informants.”

In late 2016, the band announced a new beer collaboration, this time brewed by Eppig Brewing and tying into their new album Vermont. The album was mostly written in David Martin's home state of Vermont, while he was flying back and forth during his mother's cancer treatment until she passed away in September 2015.
