Inception: San Diego, 2010

Background:

Based in Coronado and Chula Vista, the Speculators was formed in spring 2010 by Oscar Carrion, Andre Flores, Jose Guerrero, and Wyatt Heidenfelder. The songs blend fuzzy indie rock and shoegaze, along with 1960s pop, jazz, and R&B inflections.

As of 2011, frontman Wyatt Heidenfelder studies philosophy at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, while still calling San Diego his home. Guitarist Oscar Carrion teaches guitar lessons and studies Sociology at UCSD. Bassist Andre Flores is a jazz studies major at SDSU where he moonlights on saxophone and performs with various ensembles. Drummer Jose Guerrero is a student sushi chef who performs with local folk artist Kelsea Rae Little (the Wrong Trousers.
