Smokelines is a west coast and east coast fusion featuring two singer-songwriters, Skylar Blaze Star aka Sky Star - who was born and raised in San Diego - and Faith Gara from New York. As of 2020, Star was also living in New York to pursue her music career while in college.

Their pop-dance single “Heartbreak Looks Better” was released in November 2020. According to Star, “'Heartbreak Looks Better' is an anthemic song that brings light to how some of us appear to look after a break up, unfazed and stunning as if we didn’t miss a beat. Smokelines explores the heartbreak process: dealing with being a victim of infidelity while keeping their beautiful composure on the outside.”

Sky Star released her debut debut solo single on March 26th, 2021, "Melancholy Treasures." "The song talks about my move from San Diego to NYC for college and also specifically mentions San Diego in the song," she says. "It's basically all about the memories I've made which can bring on the feeling of melancholy, but how I also treasure those memories."
