Background:
San Diego New Music is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization "dedicated to the promotion of twentieth- and twenty-first century classically inspired music." They sponsor an ensemble-in-residence called Noise, for which they also commission and pay composers to create new music especially for the ensemble.
From 1994 to 2007, San Diego New Music produced an annual concert series at La Jolla's Athenaeum Music & Arts Library in La Jolla. SDNM also runs the SoundOn Festival of Modern Music, launched in 2007.
