Background:

Ricky Ruis is a young fingerstyle acoustic guitarist who describes himself as a thumb-style picker, heavily influenced by Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel. “I’ve been playing guitar from the age of 14. I was unable to take lessons as a kid, so instead I would dedicate myself to my guitar for ten hours a day during the summer months, with nothing more than a Hal Leonard guitar book, and a little help from my mother and her knowledge on music theory.”
