Background:

Pianist Richard Thompson teaches music performance, history, and theory at San Diego State University, where he's an associate professor of music.

Born in Scotland, Thompson studied classical piano with Theodore Lettvin at Rutgers University. He has performed with the Harlem Festival Orchestra, the Glasgow Chamber Orchestra, the Aberdeen Chamber Orchestra, and the Boston Orchestra and Chorale.
