The Red Step features Tobias Nathaniel from the Black Heart Procession paired with musicians from the garage rock scene in Belgrade, Serbia’s capital city: keyboardist Boris Eftovski, bassist Rudolf Cibulski, and drummer Vladimir Markoski, all hailing from the longstanding Serbian garage rock band Kazna za uši. Londoner Sarah Jane Seatherton plays cello, and Tobias handles vocals and guitar.

As of 2020, Boris Eftovski and Vladimir Markoski were also members of the Black Heart Procession. An eponymous debut release by Chicago’s Pravda Records dropped in late 2020 on colored marbled vinyl with a download card, for digital download and via streaming platforms.

Tobias Nathaniel has also recorded with indie rockers Blonde Redhead and Bauhaus bassist David J (who ended up living in San Diego), and played piano on what became the “Evil Morty” theme on the TV show Rick and Morty. Vladimir Markoski has also played drums with Andre Williams.
