Background:
Formed in early 2010 by the MiraCosta College music department, the MiraCosta Oceanside Jazz Orchestra is a jazz repertory big band, nicknamed MOJO. Operating under the direction of Steve Torok, the ensemble concentrates on the music of the great big band-era jazz arrangers, including Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Gil Evans and Mel Lewis/Thad Jones, along with contemporary composers.
