Background:

Kartik Seshadri is a master sitarist who plays in the style of the Maihar gharana school of Hindustani music. After picking up the instrument as a child, he began studying with Pandit Ravi Shankar in 1965, at the age of eight.

Seshadri - who moved to America in 1981 - directs a classical music program at the University of California, San Diego.
