Background:
Guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli originally began as a banjo player, before joining the Vaughn Monroe dance band for several years and recording with Dion and the Belmonts, Stephane Grappelli, and Les Paul.
He later landed a job with NBC TV’s Tonight Show orchestra, working closely with eventual bandleader Doc Severinsen. Shortly after Pizzarelli turned 85 in January 2011, he received the Living Jazz Legend award from the San Diego Jazz Party.
