Background:
Singer/keyboardist Marc Gould (aka Bedford Nelson) started Bedford Grove while living in Manhattan in 2006 on the corner of Bedford and Grove streets in the West Village.
Gould -- born and raised in San Diego -- formerly fronted the pop-punk band Off By One. From New York, he moved back to San Diego in 2007 and hooked up with girlfriend/singer Lauren Paul (aka Charlie Parker).
Bassist Sean Sobash (aka Bash Culver) studied jazz and funk in New Orleans, where he met session percussionist/drummer Shane Fitzgibbon (aka Dr. Quicken). The duo moved to San Diego in 2007 and joined Bedford Grove. Trombone player Matthew Smith was added to the lineup in 2008.
The band’s album Welcome to Our Side of Town, released in April 2008, was nominated for Best Local Record at that year’s San Diego Music Awards.
