Backyard Bow-Hunting in La Jolla
THIS IS AWESOME! Great article! I use a compound bow myself and I have taken a crapload of small game with it. In fact, small game is pretty much all I shoot (rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc) as I do pest management on my property. If you are still into archery, shoot me an email at [email protected], I would love to go target shooting or take out some rabbits sometime! There is even a range at UCSD, which is where I go to school! CARRY ON! -N8— June 13, 2009 7:54 p.m.

Congratulations on your first range trip! I hope your perception of guns has changed for the better and the love for your 2nd Amendment rights (nay, all the Amendments!) grows! I think that learning to shoot is a very practical skill, right up there with learning to drive a stick shift. Good for you for taking the plunge. joshb, The stuff that you are saying about having the gun being taken away from the lady and used on her is the same stuff that has been spouted since... well, forever. I am still looking for anecdotal evidence that some criminal had the balls to close the distance on a woman bearing a weapon then disarmed and killed her instead. This might even be speculation on my part, but I will have to say that the likelihood of such a story is pretty slim. In any case, even if it were true that women were more apt to be disarmed and have the gun used against them, at least they had a fighting chance with a weapon and not a beggar's chance with a 911 call. The shop off of Morena Blvd. is Discount Gun Mart and it is a pretty good shop. I have been known to frequent that range every so often. Oh, gotcha. I actually had a woman that took offense to me advocating for arming women, which is why I asked. -N8— April 14, 2009 9:35 p.m.

What's wrong with women that carry firearms?— April 13, 2009 8:27 a.m.
Have you ever shot a gun?
Shooting? Are you kidding me? It is one of my PASSIONS! In fact, I just took a journalist from the SD Reader shooting the other day. I go whenever I can and my favorite firearms are my Ruger 10/22 and Ruger MKII, aside from my usual carry piece, my Taurus Tracker M44C. I usually go to BLM land out in Ramona but I have been known to frequent some of the indoor ranges as well. Like David, I am also a hunter, though I am more into small game at the moment (being a college student and all). I usually hunt small game with my bow or my air rifle but as of late I have been using my Ruger Single Six stoked with Aguila Super Colibris for hunting rats at the local dairy. If anyone would like to go shooting or learn how to shoot, feel free to contact me at [email protected] and I will see if I can swing an appointment. As long as you pay for fees and ammunition, I will bring all the guns and knowledge! CARRY ON! -N8— April 9, 2009 1:05 a.m.
